Please read all the instructions
carefully before commencing fixing.
The tools you will need
- woodworking saw
- tape measure
- pencil
- clean damp cloth
panel pins
- hammer
- chalk line (or string and piece of chalk)
- mitre block/box
- adhesive - suitable for fixing polyurethane
mouldings
Preparation
- Ensure the wall surface is clean, sound,
flat, dry and free from grease and loose particles.
New or bare surfaces should be primed.
Marking out
- Take vertical measurements from top of skirting
at each end of wall.
- Put nails in wall at each end. Stretch chalked
string between nails and snap against the
wall to mark, ensuring the line is horizontal.
- Put panel pins into wall at 600mm intervals
along this line - the bottom line for the
dado rail.
- These pins can be removed after 24 hours.
- ALL MEASUREMENTS ARE TAKEN ALONG
THIS LINE
Fixing
- Start in a corner of the room and work
round.
- Apply adhesive to the back of the dado
rail and on the ends.
- Rest the dado rail on the panel pins
and press firmly into position.
- Leave a 1.5mm gap between lengths,
well filled with adhesive.
- Put panel pins through the top and
bottom edges of the dado rail at the ends of
each length. Punch the panel pins into the face
of the mouldings and fill over the heads.
- Continue fixing lengths, mitring and
cutting to size as required.
Finishing the job
- Fill any gaps using adhesive or proprietary
filler. Wipe off surplus adhesive with a clean
damp cloth.
- Check that no detail is clogged with
adhesive or filler.
- The white finish of the product acts
as an undercoat for most decorative paints.
For best results use an acrylic eggshell.
